Beginning Quilting
Eight 3-hour weekly classes

This class will introduce you to quilting by machine and rotary cutting. You will learn tips and tricks, beginning with choosing fabrics, to make your quilting journey a successful one.

Ideally, you will already know the basics of threading and operating your sewing machine before taking this class. You will need a 1/4" foot for your machine before the second class. If you don't already have one, we will help you determine which foot will fit your machine if you bring in the shank from your machine. Better yet, bring in the whole machine at least two weeks before the first class. If need be, we can order a foot for you. We will also have a few sewing machines available for rental for a minimal fee. Just be sure to let us know so we can reserve one for you. 

In this class you will make either a baby quilt or a lap-sized quilt. We prefer that you purchase all of your fabrics from Marmie Quilting. We will start rotary cutting in the first class, so you won't need to bring your machine to the first class.

Supply List:

• A loose-leaf binder and 30 page protectors
• Notebook paper and pencil
• Sewing Machine, cord, foot pedal, a walking foot, and a 1/4" foot (not needed the first week)
• New machine needle (size 80/12) Universal
• Basic sewing kit-- pins, tape measure, seam ripper, scissors
• Rotary Mat, Rotary Cutter, 6" x 24" Ruler
• Additional Square Ruler 9.5" or larger (Optional)
• Good quality Thread
• Fabrics (requirements provided at first class). You may choose a baby quilt or lap quilt size. You will select and purchase your fabric during the first class.
