Theme: Sew a Season June 1 – August 31, 2024 Marmie Quilting is participating in the 2024 Row by Row Experience National Shop Hop! What is the “Row by Row Experience?” It’s an event for avid quilters who love to travel, meet new people, support local quilt shops, make unique one-of-a-kind quilts, and win prizes! Beginning June 1st and running through August 31st, quilters are invited to visit participating shops and ask for that shop’s special FREE row pattern. Please note that the FREE pattern is only available in the store in person. If you can’t go in person, patterns, fabric and kits can also be purchased online. Make a Quilt! Collect at least 8 different rows from participating shops and make a quilt with them. You get to decide your layout, borders, added design elements, etc… Check out this quilt that a customer made last year from 8 shops’ rows. Every finished quilt is unique! Your quilt will tell the story of your travels and the great quilt shops you found along the way. Your Quilt Can Win! From July 1st through September 30th, each Row by Row shop has one awesome prize to give out! To win, be the first person to bring in a completed Row by Row quilt using 8 different rows from 8 different 2024 participating quilt shops. To be completed, it must be quilted, bound, and labeled. You can win a 15 pc Fat Quarter Bundle at any participating shop, but each shop only gets one winner! Marmie Quilting’s Row Design for 2024:
The Full Moon of May is known as the Flower Moon which signifies the wildflowers that bloom abundantly during May. Here in Oklahoma, just a short drive from Marmie Quilting, the critically acclaimed movie, “Killers of the Flower Moon,” was filmed. The movie (based on the 2017 non-fiction book of the same name written by David Grann) was released in October 2023 and tells the story of the Osage Indian Nation that endured many horrible crimes for the sake of their head rights. Set in 1920s Oklahoma, it focuses on a series of murders of Osage members and relations in the Osage Nation after oil was discovered on tribal land during the Flower Moon. The tribal members had retained mineral rights on their reservation, but a corrupt local political boss sought to ruthlessly steal their wealth. Our row depicts the beautiful Flower Moon, still coaxing the Oklahoma wildflowers to bloom and grow each year; our row is a tribute to the memory of the Osage who suffered the “Reign of Terror” over a century ago.
